A small town under the Shire of Livingstone local government area in Queensland, Cawarral is located 20 kilometres northeast of Rockhampton, 16.8 kilometres west of Emu Park and 23.4 kilometres southwest of Yeppoon. The area used to be a gold mining town that was established after minor gold finds were unearthed in 1863 and 1868. Mining and grazing were the primary economy drivers of the town back then, which had three hotels, two boarding houses, four stores and a primary school. Today, Cawarral remains mostly a rural residential area, with most people working in more urban areas such as Rockhampton or Yeppoon. However, the town is also within proximity to a number of attractions and places of interest found in neighbouring suburbs such as the Capricorn Trail Rides, Mount Archer National Park and Koorana Crocodile Farm.
