Wandal is a small suburban town located in the local government area of the Rockhampton Regional Council in the state of Queensland. In the 1860s, an original land survey for the suburb originally took place. Wandal used to be the site for some big estate properties under the ownership of affluent individuals, including P.F. MacDonald, John Jardine, W.H. Wiseman and William Knox D'Arcy. It was between the 19th and 20 centuries that an increased level of development occurred in the area. Some of the schools in Wandal are the Hall Primary School, St. Joseph’ s Primary School and the Rockhampton State High School. There are other landmarks and facilities in the suburb such as the Rockhampton Agricultural Society’s Rockhampton “Show Grounds”.
