Situated on the Central Coast of Rockhampton in Queensland, Marmor is approximately 480 kilometres away from the capital city of Brisbane. Its name was derived from a Latin word for marble, which was discovered in the area. Redan Range, Mount Gindiwarra and Egg Island are some of the various landscapes and seascapes that surround the town of Marmor. The vicinity of Marmor also has neighbouring tourist spots, including Koorana Crocodile Farm, which opened in 1981 and was the first commercial crocodile farm in Queensland, as well as Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary, which allows its visitors to cuddle a koala, hold a snake or feed their kangaroos and wallabies. To get to the residential district of Marmor, the main transport services used are the Ulogie train station and the Rockhampton Airport. Vacationists who wish to stay in the area have hotel selections such as Rocky Gardens Motor Inn Rockhampton, Southside Holiday Village and Rocky Resort Motor Inn.
