The Mary Valley tourist drive will wind you through the smaller townships of Dagun and Kandanga where you can taste delicious local goodies, including organic wines and cheeses. Historical old Gympie town is a major servicing and business hub for the outer region and has many schools reflecting its importance to the area. With so much local produce in abundance, including a wide range of seasonal fruit, vegetables, red claw and crayfish, and export quality beef amongst the pastures, it’s not surprising it is also home to many high-end, value adding processors and distributors. Gympie hosts the Heart of Gold International Short Film Festival over the first weekend in October. Five days of fun, the festival is an attraction for budding producers and directors, showcasing documentaries, parties, seminars and an award ceremony.
