A town in Queensland’s Wide Bay-Burnett region, Childers is under the local government area of the Bundaberg Region. It is situated 52 kilometres southwest of Bundaberg and 325 kilometres north of the state capital Brisbane, next to the intersection of Bruce and Isis Highways. It is bordered by the towns of South Isis to the south, Doolbi to the east, Apple Tree Creek to the west and North Isis to the north. European settlement in the area began around the 1850s, and pastoralists soon started taking properties for raising cattle.
