Kallangur is a suburb in the Moreton Bay Region, in Queensland. It is north of the state capital Brisbane and surrounded by the suburbs of North Lakes, Murrumba Downs and Petrie. The two main roads through the town are Anzac Parade and Old Gympie Road.
The name originates from the aboriginal word “Kalangoor” meaning a good or satisfactory place.
Kallangur has grown in recent years due to high residential demand in the northern corridor and is mostly suburban. There are also major infrastructure changes taking place in the area to ease traffic congestion.
The town is serviced by an array of amenities, including primary and secondary schools, local parks and Kallangur Fair. The local shopping complex houses Woolworths, and a few conveniences. Westfields Northern Lakes which is close by has major retail outlets and franchise stores.
Northern Leagues and Services Club, provides locals with a world of entertainment and fun, showcasing special events, shows, venues for hire and dining opportunities at “Char” or Surreal Café. There is a kids club and a courtesy bus service.
The ANZAC memorial gate with a bronze statue stands on the corner of Anzac Avenue and Goodfellows Road and the Naval Memorial Gardens are a sight to behold with their 3 metre high statues of historic important naval personnel including admirals, pilots and commanders.
