We teach Sivananda Yoga in the Byron Bay area. We have spent a total of 8 years doing voluntary selfless service as resident staff in the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram in London. During this time we were trained and guided by Swamis (monks) in our yoga practice and teaching. The rigourous and intense routine of ashram life and the daily opportunity to teach yoga to students from around the world gave us a unique understanding of the yoga practice. We aim to share this experience through our yoga classes.
We run yoga retreats (7 days 6 nights) in Byron's beautiful Tallow Beach Houses.
We offer 1 day mini retreats so that you can forget the stressful daily grind and rejuvenate in one full day of yoga practice. Our Easter Saturday retreat at Tallow Beach was a big success. We enjoyed 2 revitalising yoga classes, a workshop on 'Benefits of the Asanas', and a delicious yogic vegetarian meal. The weather was bright and sunny which made the afternoon walk and dip in the sea a perfect topping to the day. The schedule and layout of these retreats are the same as those taught by the International Sivananda Organisation for over 50 years. They work to deepen your yoga practice and has been proven to bring about a fundamental transformation towards a more peaceful and happy life. Our class structure follow the traditional layout as taught by Swami Vishnudevananda: Pranayama (breathing exercises), Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) to warm up, Asanas (postures), Relaxation (at the beginning, in between asansa, with a final deep relaxation at the end). Our classes are held in light and peaceful locations perfect for yoga practice in Suffolk Park, Lennox Head and Mullumbimby.
