Wicklow used to be fabulous for coeliac and gluten intolerant people as they had a separate fryer. Went in on Friday night and the menu had changed. On ordering I specially asked were the chips still gluten free, advised I was a coeliac and told yes. On placing an additional order with a different deserved, told no. I was confronted by the first server who overheard this and told he never said that, and that GF on the menu (no key) means gluten friendly (what, it LIKES gluten?). He then offered a refund of the meal when I became angry. I declined. Pointing out to him a refund will not prevent a potential hospital visit. He then offered $100 - to my friend! Two days on I am still in excruciating gut and joint pain and vomiting. Obviously I have reported this but avoid at all costs. I tried to explain importance of gluten free but he wasn’t even interested in being educated or listening to the issue.

Wicklow is a popular pub just out of the centre. They serve decent pub food and offer outdoor seating plus live bands playing on the weekend. Also entertainment room for the kids where you can lose them for a couple of hours. Good vibe and atmosphere.

A beautiful and delightful lunch we had at Wicklow Hotel, I had the Lamb Shiskabas, while my partner had the Beef & Guiness Pie. All the meals were served quickly and the staff were excellent. We both enjoyed our meals and would recommend the place to all friends and family. The great thing is that they open at 11.30 so if you have an early lunchtime appointment you can get in and out promptly.
