About Berrimah, NT
A suburb of eastern Darwin in the local government area of the City of Darwin in Northern Territory, Berrimah is situated 12.4 kilometres east of the centre of Darwin’s local government area and 9.1 kilometres northwest of Palmerston. Berrimah, whose name was derived from the local Aboriginal word that means “to the south,” was one of the strategic camps established by military authorities before the World War II. It eventually became an industrial and military hub. Present-day Kormilda College is the site of the 119th Army General Hospital at the camp site that was called Berrimah. Today, Berrimah is a predominantly industrial suburb, but is also in close proximity to various places of interest, such as the Crocodylus Park, Holmes Jungle Nature Park, Australian Aviation Heritage Centre and Charles Darwin National Park.
