About Valentinos Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria

In 1952, Alfonso and Carmelina Covino said goodbye to their hometown in Naples, Italy, and set off for a great adventure to Australia. They arrived in the picturesque setting of Silvan in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria and grew berries on 12 hectares. The warmth of Naples was still in their blood and they craved a more welcoming climate. Holidays to the Gold Coast proved intoxicating for the Covino family, including sons Tony and George and daughter Jenny, and they settled in South East Queensland in 1977. In 1983, they combined their knowledge of farming and fresh produce with the traditional recipes of their hometown and a passion for sociable dining when they opened Romanas at Nobby Beach on the coast. Valentinos Italian Restaurant & Pizzaria was soon to follow, located on the main avenue in Broadbeach, with Tony's brother George opening Georges next door a few years later. A family affair, Valentinos is lovingly tended by the Covino family, including Tony, his wife Elaine, and Alfonso and Carmelina's grandchildren, Carmel, Daniella, Stephanie and Nicola, who all help with the day-to-day running of the restaurant. The family has endeavoured to bring the flavours of Italy and Naples to Valentinos and has succeeded in creating a welcoming, popular restaurant, with a large selection of exciting dishes and tempting desserts. Start your evening being personally greeted by Tony himself or another welcoming staff member, then enjoy relaxed drinks at the bar before moving to a table to enjoy fresh produce and exquisitely prepared meals offering unforgettable flavour sensations. Our entrees, mains, pasta and pizzas are scattered with selections of seafood, steak, veal, chicken and healthy salads. Popular dishes include tender grain-fed eye fillet and the Fettuccine Pescatore seafood dish. Along with fresh bugs, oysters and prawns, we serve fresh lobster and seasonal mud crab from our tanks on the premises. The Covino family look after their diners as though they're family. Every effort is made to make guests feel welcome and comfortable and to enjoy a satisfying meal. After just one visit to this well-established restaurant, you'll be longing to return to sample the entire menu and homemade desserts.

First time here and only got take away- two pastas and a garlic pizza. The pastas were seriously amazing as was the garlic pizza. In honesty I feel the pizza could have been at least a medium size for the price being charged but it was all super fresh, very tasty and what looked like a lovely place to dine in! Maybe a little $ for takeaway but I think it was worth it, you could taste the love in the food. Converted! This will be our new favourite Italian restaurant!

Dined at Valentinos last night with my partner and ended up violently ill. Spent half the night hanging over the toilet bowl throwing up, shivering on the floor in agony, and running to the toilet with diarreah. Everything came up, and I mean everything. It was a nightmare, and completely ruined our weekend. My stomach is still doing loop the loops. Called the restaurant and the manager couldn't have cared less, was rude, and hung up on me. Disgraceful attitude for a restaurant manager. *BE WARNED* do not eat at Valentinos unless you want your night ruined too. Plus the food wasn't that good either. The vegetables were over-cooked, the steak under-cooked, and the seafood lacked flavour. The interior is rather daggy and not up to scratch for the Broadbeach precinct. My advice, dine somewhere else, plenty of better options in Broadbeach. UPDATE: Partner is now really sick with food poisoning. Spoke to a chef and he said it was most likely the oysters. 🤮
