Uranquinty Neighbourhood Centre

The Uranquinty Neighbourhood Centre has played an important role in our village since 1983. In September 1979 the Progress Association received a letter from Lorraine Charters enquiring about the possibility of establishing a community centre or neighbourhood centre. Progress agreed to support the idea in both principle and financially, writing to WWCC, to ask them to set aside land near the new sporting complex in Connorton Street (Ted Jeffery Oval) A public meeting was called in in February 1980 and a committee formed to prep area submission, raise funds and organise research into the needs of the community.
