Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a down-rod extension pole, and how long should it be?

A down rod extension pole is an add-on purchase that is only ever needed if your ceiling height is 2.7m or higher. In such cases, adding an extension rod to bring the ceiling fan lower will dramatically improve its airflow effectiveness. The Australian/ New Zealand Standard requires that a fan should be installed so the blades are at least 2.1 metres or more from the floor.

Where is the best place to position a fan?

In a small room with one fan, centering it is logical for both aesthetics and efficiency. However in a large bedroom, it might make better sense to position it over the bed for relief on hot nights. In an expansive, open-plan room, consider using 2 or more fans to 'zone' spaces, such as placing one over your living area and one above the dining table.
