The Dyslexia Support Centre provides a variety of comprehensive, tailored, multi-sensory reading or writing programs. When the homework practise is followed regularly as suggested, we have seen excellent results with students catching-up and developing skills and strategies that assist them to read, write and spell. Parents are pleasantly surprised how quickly their student develops confidence and skills to manage independently.

The multi-sensory program is designed to engage the senses of sight, hearing, and touch where more areas of the brain are stimulated. This helps students to learn in their preferred mode (e.g. auditory, visual, verbal) and creates more memory networks and improved long-term learning. The programs involve both parent/guardian and the child attending a weekly 1hr lesson for approximately 12-20 lessons (depending on the level of program commenced on). The parent/guardian then spends 30 mins going through the exercises for 4-5 nights each week, at home, with the child.
Prior to the program a 1hr assessment consultation is required to determine where the child's specific strengths and weaknesses are and what is the best program to assist them to achieve their desired outcome. Each program is then tailored to build on their strengths and address their areas of weaknesses.

The Dyslexia Support Centre provides vital support for North Queensland children and adults with learning disabilities, specifically those difficulties associated with dyslexia. Students with Dyslexia struggle to read, write and spell on the same level as their peers even though they may excel in other ways. They may have a history of structured intervention without the desired results.
A formal diagnosis of Dyslexia is not required to qualify for specialist tutoring at the Dyslexia Support Centre.
