About Saumarez Homestead National Trust

Stunning historic country homestead with gardens, farm buildings and a cafe giving you an insight into rural life in the 1800's. Available to the public for tours, weddings, functions and events. This ten-hectare grazing property was first inhabited by British settlers led by Henry Dumaresq in the 1830's. Today it includes an elegant, extensive, fully furnished Edwardian homestead, built between 1888 and 1906, and 15 farm and other buildings dating up to 1910, with their collections of early farm equipment.

Products

  • Saumarez Homestead is available for weddings, birthdays, dinners, exhibitions, conferences/workshops and meetings. You can hold your event in the Jackson Centre, a large stable and barn which can accommodate very large parties and has brick floors, power and water. Alternatively, there is the function centre, a relatively new building with a function room that can be divided in two and seats up to 95, a small modern kitchen, and a courtyard which can accommodate a small marquee and dance floor. The gardens comprise of extensive lawns, large trees, flower beds and two large flat areas for the placement of hired marquees. The peace and quiet of Saumarez will surround you on your special occasion.

  • Take a guided tour through the White family's 30 room Edwardian mansion complete with original furnishings. Stroll through Mary White's garden, with its Edna Walling style cottage garden, the picking garden and the lawns. Visit outbuildings complete with 19th century tools and equipment. Allow at least half a day to see this extensive property, and experience 19th century pastoral life.

  • Guided tours for casual visitors and bus tours by appointment. The Saumarez Centre is popular for weddings, celebrations, small conferences and meetings. Lunch and other refreshments can be booked. Caf�. National Trust Gift Shop. Parking.

This place is definitely worth a visit. Excellent. The property is very well maintained in its 1906 state. The tour guide is fantastic too. Lunch at their cafe was also very pleasant. I highly recommend it to anyone.
