About Cooroy, QLD
Cooroy is a township in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland approximately 22 km’s west of Noosa Heads in Queensland. Sitting at the base of Cooroy Mountain, the suburb is bisected by the main arterials, the Bruce Highway and Cooroy Noosa Road. Cooroy Railway Station, a heritage listed building dating back to 1891 services commuters twice daily on the North Coast Line via Translink and also long distance Travel-train services, the Spirit of Queensland, Spirit of Outback and the Bundaberg and Rockhampton Tilt Trains. Dating back to the late 1800’s the town was originally formed from the timber cutters, evolving eventually into a farming and growing district, it now has a small central business precinct housing local amenities such as banks, cafés and eateries, medical facilities, sports clubs, an IGA Supa and 3 schools, Noosa Christian College, Noosa District State High School, and Cooroy State School. The town has a number of parks and green spaces, most notable the Cooroy Golf Club, established in 1934. The 18 hole course features tree-lined undulating fairways, and meanders through bush land, crossed by creeks and ponds. It is a flora and bird life experience nestled in the Sunshine Hinterland, catering as the perfect venue for social, corporate or charity golf days.
