WARNNG! DO NOT go to Rutherford Trailers for work to your trailer. The low-quality of their work has shown itself to be a PUBLIC RISK. The facts: The bike rack they mounted to our trailer last week FELL OFF after only 2 hours of driving with only 20kg of small bikes on it. We narrowly avoided a serious road accident. People who witnessed the damage and the failed 'welds' used the words, "ridiculous", "UNSAFE" and "cheap" to describe the workmanship. The 'welds' were so small they could barely be seen and the hardware chosen and the manner by which they tried to to secure the bike rack was totally inappropriate - it was destined to fail. Even my children could see it was never going to work. I thought about doing it myself, but wanted a professional job because of the nature of the loads and risks involved. I should have done it myself. The shop owners response: When approached, the owner first blamed the trailer itself (?), then me (for some bizarre reason) for his unsafe job. He manner was consistently arrogant, rude and dismissive when approached about the failure of his work. He was not the most pleasant person to deal with initially (my wife and I thought he was cocky and pre-occupied), but I put up with it because I thought I was getting a professional job. I declined his offer to fix it as his manner was so offensive. I had no trust in him or his workmanship and his shop is a long way from my home. I only went there in the first place as it was near the house I bought the trailer. He would not refund his exorbitant charges for the job. Overall: Prices: High Arrogance: High Rudeness: High Customer service: Low Workmanship quality: Low This is the first negative review I have ever posted, but I feel I need to do this in the interest of public safety. For your personal safety and peace of mind think twice before going to this shop.
