About NSW Volunteer Rescue Association

The NSW Volunteer Rescue Association (NSW VRA) is committed to building resilience to General Land Search & Rescue and to promote the role the service plays in the community. Education, community awareness, building resilience through developing people's capacity to respond to events and engaging with communities in NSW are important activities of the NSW VRA within their local communities. The NSW VRA attend approximately 10,000 incidents per year across the state. These include MVA's (motor vehicle accidents), searches, body recoveries, inland water search & recovery, vertical rescues, animal rescues, lighting of crime scenes & emergency lighting, swift water rescue, industrial & domestic rescue, alpine & snow rescue, cave rescue, first aid at sporting events, traffic control for community events just to name a few. Over and above this they have to raise funds to run their squads. The NSW VRA is made up of a wide diversity of people who regularly commit their time and energy, volunteering to assist their communities and those travelling in times of emergencies.
