About Yatala, QLD
Yatala is a Queensland suburb located in the northern part of Gold Coast City. Brisbane, the capital city of the state is 36 kilometres away. Yatala is one of the suburbs found near the Albert River, along with Stapylton, Beenleigh and Windaroo. The area that is now occupied by Yatala was acquired by a native of South Australia who named it after an Aboriginal location in South Australia near Pooraka. The word “Yatala” means “water running by the riverside.” It is from the language of the Kaurna Aboriginal people. Today, there are numerous businesses thriving successfully in this progressive suburb, which is famous in the Gold Coast region for the Yatala Pie Shop. This establishment has been serving residents and visitors for at least 130 years.
