About Mall Medical Centre

We are committed to promoting health, wellbeing, and disease prevention to all patients. We do not discriminate in the provision of excellent care and aim to treat all patients with dignity and respect. Mall Medical Centre performs minor surgical procedures such as local skin excisions and Implanon insertions and has the following diagnostic facilities, ECG, Spirometry, and Audiometry. The surgery is a fee for service clinic and offers Centrelink cardholders a discount fee. Our principal GP has a particular interest in Dermatology and the surgery is the only healthcare facility that caters for Aviation Medicine in Alice Springs. Travel Medicine, Immunisations, Health Assessments (for men, women and children), Pre-employment Medicals, Mental Health, Skin Checks, CO2 Treatments, Workcover, Quit Smoking advice, Aged Care and Palliative Care are all areas of General Practice that Mall Medical Centre caters for.

I am really sorry for this review here about Mall Medical Centre. In short, I feel there must be a patient centered approach shown by health care facilities anywhere. But from my experience here today, I felt it was very much a money centred approach. Had a phone appointment with a Doctor here and had mentioned about myself working in a remote community as an Aged Care worker and gave them my work phone number for a call around 12 pm today as my personal number does not work in remote regions. They had noted it down and confirmed that they would give me call on my work phone during the scheduled appointment but unfortunately, I am guessing that my phone was not reachable for some reason. When I called them back around 12.40pm to reconfirm about the appointment call, the lady who spoke to me was very rude over the phone as I felt I was being bullied through their policy regarding "Missed appointment payment" and the lady wasn't ready to listen at all and kept repeating the same.

The doctors are wonderful however some of the staff at reception are inadequate. Laughing at a distraught patient? Customer service training highly recommended.

Just rang to book my 7yr old to have the flu vaccine. Was told by their receptionist they wouldn’t book my daughter in as apparently they are not our usual GP and they only did flu vaccines for their regulars (the GP we normally go to didn’t have any available). Very disappointed considering the current risks of COVID-19 and the flu season coming up. Let’s hope my daughter doesn’t get the flu AND Covid at the same time...

Service from the Dr was great, service from front office staff shocking - combined rating of one star, caution advised. Called and obvious hesitantly booked an appointment at 2:30pm for 3:30pm. By the time the call ended I was already unable to call back and cancel the appointment due to the one hour cancellation policy. No mention at the time of the booking of the appointment that it will not be able to be cancelled. If a cancellation of one hour is required, why offer a booking in that or less time? When calling 50min later to cancel with possible appointment day following, not only an abrupt an unfriendly response,but blame added for "leaving in the lurch", which I doubt very much is true or verifiable. A friendly response would have had a very different end to the situation. Very disappointed customer of twelve years. Ended up using the appointment as I refuse to pay a $40 fee for receiving not only no service, but terrible service from one individual.

Mall Medical Centre is full of caring and professional staff. We are going to Africa in a couple of months so we went to the centre to get our health checked and to see if we needed any travel medicine as well. Family friendly environment. Would recommend to anyone.
