About Mackay Mobile Sharpening

Hi my name is Dave and I commenced trading as Mackay Mobile Sharpening in April 2016. I saw the need for a professional sharpening service in and around Mackay and I spent the best part of 8 months researching and planning. I have imported the best available sharpening systems and studied with a Grand Master Sharpener. The sharpening services I am currently offering are knives, scissors (hairdressing, dressmaker, grooming and industrial), clipper blades, hand plane blades, spoke shaves, chisels, drill bits, rota broaches, axes, secateurs, garden shears and more. Just about anything with a blade! My van is mobile and I can come to you for most services and I am happy to make arrangements with you to pick up and drop off items you need sharpened. All my work is guaranteed and I am confident that you will be happy with the services supplied to you. I am permanently located at the Mackay Showgrounds Markets on Saturday mornings from 6:00am to 10:00am. If you have any blades that require sharpening, please give me a call!

Services

  • Mobile Sharpening

  • We enjoy meeting new people and get a real buzz out of making stuff really sharp. All our work is guaranteed and we are confident that you will be happy with the services we provide.

  • Here are a few tips to help keep your knives in good condition once we have sharpened them:

  • 2. ALWAYS rinse your knives immediately after cutting tomatoes or citrus fruit.

  • 3. DO NOT store your knives in the 'cutlery drawer' with all your other utensils.

  • 4. The BEST way to store your sharp knives is on a magnetic knife holder.

  • Mobile van—we come to you (minimum sharpening charge of $50)

  • 1. NEVER put your knives in the dishwasher—wash them in warm soapy water, rinse, dry and put away.

  • 5. NEVER cut on the counter top - use a wooden cutting board or a plastic (polyethylene) cutting board.

  • Basically, use it, wash it, dry it, store it—follow these rules and your knives will retain their sharp edge for longer.

After having alot of trouble with blunt scissors at our Mackay RSPCA adoption centre, we approached Dave and asked him to donate his services to help us out. He very quickly replied and came to visit us the next day. Great local bloke who gave us plenty of great advice. What a champ!! Love when local businesses jump on board to help such a fantastic organisation! Well done Dave.

Went to see Dave on Friday at Total Tools. He sharpened kitchen and filleting knives for me and did a magnificent job. Had the time to sit and have a lovely chat with him while he was sharpening my knives. Got some tips on looking after my knives and also some history on one old knife. Thanks Dave, I will be back. Highly recommend.
