Dr Chris Hornsby Ophthalmology offers the people of Mackay and surrounding districts ophthalmic care for diagnosis and treatment. Our business has been operating in Mackay since 2007 with the sole owner of the business, Dr Chris Hornsby at the helm. After completing ophthalmic training in Australia Dr Chris Hornsby worked at an ophthalmic hospital in Jerusalem as the Australian Priory Fellow, and then completed sub-specialist training in diseases and surgery of the cornea at Birmingham Midlands Eye Centre. Dr Chris Hornsby also has specialist training in oculoplastic, orbital, lacrimal and facial plastic surgery, completed at the Cincinnati Eye Institute in the USA. Dr Chris Hornsby offers a range of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment to treat and manage eye conditions: •%09Visual Field Testing - Test for any dysfunction of peripheral to determine glaucoma symptoms or neurological deficits. •%09IOL Master - used prior to cataract surgery to obtain dioptre power for the correct Intraocular Lens to be inserted after cataract removal. •%09OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)—an eye scan mapping the retinal nerve fibre layer, which determines retinal holes or dysfunction. •%09Lasers—intense beams of light used to treat certain conditions of the retina or other eye problems. •%09Pentacam-Used to diagnose ocular conditions, especially the eye condition known at keratoconus.
