About Homebrewers Warehouse

Home Brewing can be as complex as you make it, or as simple as you like. One thing's for sure, you'll find our products and equipment economical and your beers and spirits will be really enjoyable. We are a bespoke, alternative brew shop that specialises in ingredients, equipment and advice for making beer, spirits, and other fermented products. Our shop is geared towards providing advice and equipment for beginners and experts alike. We stock all popular brands as well as products that are unique to our store and/or our region. Our staff are friendly and knowledgeable; we aim to please! We stock a range of products that are unique to our store, not just the standard fare you can buy at other stores. Some of these include the Canecutter Rum Kit (Australia's first and only 'from scratch' rum kit), Young's Fermenter Keg & Line Cleaner, the Diamondback Series and a range of equipment that we put together for our customers. Our staff practice what we preach - brewing is something we enjoy! We only give advice we follow ourselves - we're not here to sell you steak knives. We don't look to stifle your creativity. If you want to keep it simple, that is fine with us. If you want to try more advanced techniques, we'll try and foster your brewing development. Brewing can be simple, but our customers are not stupid (which is why the KISS principle is not one we abide by). We offer free demonstrations in store, as well as free one-on-one sessions if required. We're not just a fly-by-night store that orders a heap of cheap gear from overseas. We've been going strong for near on 20 years, defying trends, fads and scams. As Greg says, we've had a glass door in front of our shop for 20 years and no one has thrown a rock through it yet. We don't let big homebrew brands dictate terms to us. We advocate products which are worthwhile and will produce great results. If we believe a product is a gip/fad/no good, we will tell you so and tell you why. After 20 years in the game, we have seen many fads come and go and we've learned to beware! To give you the information, as true as we know, regardless of profit, so you stay safe and have fun. We stock the largest range of brewing supplies and have the most knowledgeable staff in North Queensland.

Frequently Asked Questions

My airlock has stopped bubbling, what do I do?

The airlock is only to allow excess gas to be released from your fermenter. If it’s working then it’s definitely still fermenting. If it has stopped it may mean that your fermenter is not that well sealed. This will not affect your beer. You can usually see a fermentation line above the level of the beer in the fermenter. If you don’t see this line after a day or so, there is a problem. At this time it is usually too late to add another yeast.

How can I get filtered water for my brew?

We provide free filtered water in store, but also sell a variety of cost-effective water filters you can set up in your own home. It's a worthwhile investment if you're planning on getting into the hobby for the long term.
