About Fry Bros Funerals

Fry Bros Funerals is a 100% locally owned and operated family business, which has been serving our region since 1889. Today, Tony Fry, along with his wife Margaret, daughters Annabelle, Dominique, Genevieve and brother Campbell uphold this proud family tradition that is the hallmark of Fry Bros. Fry Bros provides assistance to the families of our community at one of the most significant times of their lives, in a subtle, respectful and dignified manner. We assist and support families in all aspects of the funeral arrangements, and provide a service for families that is a meaningful and positive experience for all. A funeral is an opportunity for family and friends to express their love and respect for the deceased, and to offer support to one another. Fry Bros can assist in all styles of funeral and memorial services—from traditional church and chapel services to modern Celebrations of Life held in a location with special family significance, such as a favourite park, private garden, home or venue of your choosing.

The family recently lost our mother after many years of illness. Fry Bros were very sensitive to the wishes of my mother and that of the family. My grief was eased some what as I live over 400 kms from my parents and arrived the day before the funeral where I was able to have a private time with my mother and the opportunity to play my flute to her in the chapel. More recently my Dad passed away on the 18th July and again we sought out the support and compassion of the Fry Bros. The family were very impressed by the celebrant Rachel Michael who showed sensitivity and a genuine compassion in how she allowed the service to be conducted. My Dad was an informal person with a good sense of humour and whilst the service was respectful to the occasion it also reflected the personality of my Dad. Fry Bros made a difficult day that little bit easier to deal with. So from all the family and friends I thank you.

I lost my dear mother in January. She was staying with me at my home in Forster NSW. I found Fry Bros to be wonderful in every way. They drove to my home to take my beautiful mother back to Maitland where she was from. The two men that came were just wonderful and very respectful and caring. The service at St Mary's was just beautiful and once again Fry Bros were very caring and asked us if we would like to walk behind the hurst to the gates. That was a lovely way of saying goodbye to our beautiful mother.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why have a funeral?

Having a funeral service can be very important to the grieving process. A funeral can be exactly what you want it to be, from a few words shared among your closest family and friends, to public gatherings in churches, chapels or other suitable venues. A funeral allows us time to stop and think about the person who has passed, as they have gone from being a physical presence to a memory.

Is a burial more expensive than cremation?

Yes, the cost of purchasing a burial plot, the interment fee, gravedigging and a memorial plaque or headstone is more expensive than a cremation. Costs vary for each cemetery or crematorium.
