About France Family Funerals

France Family Funerals was established in Stockton in 1882 with the opening of our first funeral home. Our Australian owned family-run business specialises in funeral services for Newcastle, Lake Macqaurie, Port Stephens and throughout the Hunter region. We can arrange and design funeral services - including church, crematorium or graveside services - in the location of your choosing. We can arrange air-conditioned chapels, event rooms and tea-rooms. Our chapels are equipped for live-streaming internet hook-ups to family and friends overseas. We can also arrange for a funeral service to be conducted in your own home and garden. Green funerals are available. Our funeral plans include free perpetual memorials, online memorials and DVD life tributes. Our eClosure service assists with closing social media accounts after death. At France Family Funerals, we cater to all religious beliefs and customs, and offer a free, no-obligation funeral advisory service that can be accessed every day of the year. Our 24-hour emergency service means professional advice is available in your time of need. Our advice on everything from cremation services, caskets and coffins to church services, is second to none. For peace of mind for you and your loved ones, please contact us at France Family Funerals to discuss the many options, including pre-paying for your funeral so your family can more easily carry out your wishes following your passing. We are an executive member of the Funeral Directors Association of New South Wales, so you are guaranteed the highest standards of service when you deal with France Family Funerals.

A warm caring family that goes over and above to make a difficult time a much easier process. Doing much more than simply going through the motions, The whole team does everything they possibly can to ease one through a harrowing experience. I extend a warm and sincere "Thankyou" to Anne and her whole family. Special Mention to Bill Grundy, The Celebrant who listened to our stories and added a very personal touch when talking about our family member.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a funeral?

The funeral is a ceremony of proven worth and value for those who mourn. It provides an opportunity for the survivors and others who share in the loss to express their love, respect and grief. It permits facing openly and realistically the crisis that death may present. Through the funeral, the bereaved take that first step towards emotional adjustment to their loss.

What type of service should I have?

Only you can answer that question. The type of service conducted for the deceased, if not noted in a pre-plan, is decided by the family. The service is usually held at a place of worship or at the funeral home. The service may vary in ritual according to religious denomination or the wishes of the family. The presence of friends at this time is an acknowledgement of friendship and support. A private service is by invitation only where selected relatives and a few close friends attend the funeral service. A memorial service is usually a service without the body present and can vary in ceremony and procedures according to the family's community and religious affiliations.
