    About Southern Highlands, NSW
The Southern Highlands is a geographical region in NSW, 110 km’s south west of the state capital of Sydney. Sitting between 500m and 900m above sea level on the Great Dividing Range it is known for its cool temperature climate. It is encompasses the towns of Mittagong, Bowral, Moss Vale, Bundanoon, Robertson, and the historic town of Berrima. Bowral is renowned as the commercial and entertainment centre and also the most well known town of the Highlands. It houses and is most famous for the Bradman Museum, a tribute to Sir Donald Bradman, Australia’s famous cricketer. In a past era, Bowral served as a rural retreat for the elite gentry of Sydney, resulting in the establishment of many historic estates and manor houses in the district. It also plays host to the stunning Bowral tulip festival from end of September through to October. The Highlands has a reputation of being an upscale area due to its first class accommodation and reputable resorts on offer. In the last decade, it has also become a small yet significantly important wine growing, and cellar door region in New South Wales. International and National awards are being won from vineyards in the area creating a lure for wine-buffs the country over. The Southern Highlands attracts well over a million visitors each year, who not only come for the tranquil lifestyle on offer but also to enjoy the breath-taking scenery and pursuits abundant in the National Parks and rainforests. The historical charm of the Highlands attracts those wanting to browse through the village’s boutique stores, weekend markets, antique warehouses and bookstores, art and craft and home-ware shops.
