About Desert Dwellers

Desert Dwellers supplies quality camping equipment in Alice Springs. Established in 2001, we have grown to become one of the largest camping equipment stores in Central Australia. Our staff is composed of happy campers who have mastered the craft of living safely and comfortably in the outdoors. We have over 10 years of operations, enabling us to put together an inventory of more than 100,000 items to choose from. We specialise in durable and dependable outdoor gear suited for all types of adventures in trekking, climbing, camping and related activities. Desert Dwellers supplies jerry cans, tents, roof racks, chemical toilets, gas bottles and other vital outdoor gear. Very disappointing this store has been going down hill i know everywhere is experiencing staff shortages and how that impacts as when u are desperate you are grateful to fill positions but after today we will never recommend this business again We have shopped here for everything for our 4wd for the past 2 yrs the previous owner andrew was excellent we enquired about a shelf system for our landcruiser late last year the other owner came out and took measurements she told us she would email a quote which we never recieved as we work remote and only get back into town a few times a year Today decided to purchase a new lrg car fridge as the 1 we purchase from them has been fantastic and a few other things as we really enjoy the variety this shop offers Well my partener was absolutely disgusted with the service she recieved as she asked the MANAGER about the shelving system we were wanting to order her reply was calling out to a team member if her boss was in We mentioned we hadnt

Let me start by saying, andrew was never an owner of the store. He worked for the company for a period of time. Secondly, the quote couldn’t be sent through because you didn’t supply your email address when I asked for you or your partner to write down your contact details. I had a mobile number, which I called several times to obtain an email address, but received no call back. Whilst I am happy to help out where I can, I cannot be held responsible for people who cannot supply their full contact details. Quotes cannot be sent via a text message, and it isn’t my job to continually call for nearly a year to follow up to get an email address. Not after I had originally called several times to begin with. I’ve watched the video footage from this incident that you’ve mentioned, and I do not believe you are telling the full story. As it is school holidays I have been in and out of the store, so my staff were correct in asking if I was in the store or not. You were certainly not brushed off what so ever, but not every staff member in the store can leave and take measurements at the drop of a hat. Generally and certainly most recently measurements for quoting is booked in, so we can manage the shortage of staff and have trained supervisors on the floor at all times. Especially with the escalating crime in this town. Thanks for taking the time to write this review, however next time please take the time in being completely honest before posting.

Sold me an Engel fridge that was a cheap knock off with an Engel motor. When it broke down it could not be fixed. Parts not available. Cost $2,100 which I paid thinking I was getting the best. I am very unhappy about this purchase.

We don't sell any 'knock off fridges', you may have the wrong company.
