Regarding the plastic bags – since the ban of single use plastic bags in June 2022, we have taken a decision to recover the cost of the reusable bags we sell (a notice was up in store for many months prior to the Government’s decision to ban single use bags). Also, the charge for the reusable plastic bags we hope is a disincentive in using any type of plastic bag that damages our precious environment.
As noted on the Government’s Planning and Environment website, “While plastic is a versatile and useful product, it’s also increasingly threatening our natural environment. Once in the environment, plastics take many years to degrade, often breaking into smaller parts which can kill our wildlife.”
