Frequently Asked Questions
How do orthoses work?
The main purpose of an orthoses is to improve our foot function. For most people orthoses also aim to reduce pain and prevent future problems or injuries. Orthoses do a lot more than just supporting your arches. They stabilise the foot and ankle, re-align the feet and prevent faulty foot function.
When are orthoses used?
Our podiatrists may prescribe orthotics for your particular foot problem after a comprehensive assessment. They will consider your biomechanics (the way your body moves), your footwear; and your occupational and lifestyle environment. Orthoses provide long-term solutions in the treatment and prevention of foot, ankle, knee and hip pain.
