About Blackwater, QLD
Blackwater is a town in Queensland that has a rich history in coal mining activities. There are six major open cut coal mines littered in the vicinity of Blackwater, making it the top source of income for residents. The town got its name from the nearby Blackwater Creek, which was called as such because of the dark waters that flowed through it because of local coal deposits from coal mines in the area. Today, there are a number of residential areas around Blackwater. There is a tight knit community that celebrates the town’s rich mining history. The town is close to the popular tourist destination, the Blackdown Tableland National Park.
