    About Wyong, NSW
Situated approximately 89 kilometres north-northeast of Sydney and 20 kilometres north-northeast of Gosford, Wyong is a major suburb of the Central Coast Region of New South Wales. The area of the suburb is the site of the traditional land of an Aboriginal group called Darkinjung. The suburb’s name is an indigenous word that means either “an edible yam” or “place of running water. Wyong houses several historical sites such as Chapmans Store (opened in 1901), Court House in Alison Road (site of the town’s first post office opened in 1892) and St. Cecilia’s Church (oldest church in the town).
