I was amazed at how spotlessly clean this place was. Negligible noise from the highway. The best modern heater in a room I have found in a motel in years, it really did the trick. The freezer of the refrigerator was ice free. Easily overlooked because the signage needs freshening up. I would stay here again. A big thank you to the elderly owner who waited up for our arrival. Not many would do that. A "confirmed" booking in Armidale via Wotif was non-existent and the owners of the motel in Armidale contacted the owner of the Altona Motel to find a room for us when every room between a Glen Innes and Armidale was booked out.
