This dentist has been our family dentist. All staff have been amazing. I made an appointment today for myself and my daughter. I’m not a Caucasian appearance, and their system has my private health fund info. This receptionist looked at me, putting Medicare card and private health card on the bench, and she said “oh your daughter is on Medicare”. So I asked “what do you mean by she’s on Medicare? Any reason she can’t enrol in Medicare?” Then she said “not everyone can enrol in Medicare”. So I said “she was born in here and is an Australian citizen, so was I. I have private health insurance doesn’t mean we aren’t enrolled in Medicare. It’s not oversea cover.” Also, just so you know, enrolling in Medicare isn’t income tested. I’ve mentioned that as well to her and she started panicking that she knew she made a judgement by my skin colour. I just hope they educate their receptionist

Hi, I am sorry for your experience. There was a miscommunation about whether there was an eligibility for the Child Dental Benefits scheme which unfortunately does not cover every one. We have left a message with you to explain and apologise, so please do contact us when you get it. Thank you, Albany Dental.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do in a dental emergency?

See a Dentist for a Toothache Pain at Albany Dental Immediate action is required for dental injuries. If a tooth is knocked out, place the tooth in a container, submerged with milk, and come straight to the surgery for urgent treatment. If you are suffering from a toothache, call us immediately, and we will do our best to see you as soon as possible.

Should I delay emergency dental treatment?

When most people think of an emergency, they envision a broken bone or a serious head injury. However, dental emergencies can be just as painful and debilitating. Unfortunately, many people delay seeking treatment for dental pain, assuming that the problem will eventually go away on its own. This is a dangerous gamble to take with your oral health.
