Desert Spring is a small suburb located within the local government area of the Town of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. Formerly known as Stuart, the town in which Desert Spring is situated was once a telegraph station on the Adelaide to Darwin Line. The town was subsequently named after Alice Todd, who was the wife of Sir Charles Todd. The railway linking Alice Springs to Adelaide was completed in 1929 but it was not until February of 2004 that the train line was extended through to Darwin. Desert Springs is also home to a few parks and reserves that are suitable for picnics, exercising and dog-walking, such as Moore Park on Moore Court and the Lewis Gilbert Park.
