One of the Northern Villages in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Colo Vale is situated 2 kilometres northwest of Aylmerton, 5 kilometres west of Hume Motorway and 10 kilometres northeast of Mittagong. The word “colo” is said to be an Aboriginal word that means “a hill formed by volcanic rock.” The village mostly has general stores, home-based stores and small manufacturing businesses. However, there are also several other community amenities and facilities in the area, including a public school, sporting fields, tennis courts, a fire station, a primary school, a bottle shop, a service station and a plant nursery.
