Nowra lies in the South Coast region of New South Wales and is located 160 kilometres south-southwest of Sydney. At the 2016 census, Nowra had an estimated population of 35,795. Nowra has many museums, galleries and river cruises, being the largest coastal town in the Shoalhaven region. Nowra is surrounded by rich farmland and vineyards, and the river estuary is part of Australia’s Oyster Coast. Taste fresh regional produce at quality restaurants, such as Wharf Rd, where you’ll enjoy views of the river. Visit cellar doors at Lyrebird Ridge Organic Winery and Cambewarra Estate Winery. Nowra is also increasingly becoming a retirement and leisure area for Canberra and Sydney. The naval air station HMAS Albatross is located about 10 kilometres south-west of Nowra. Nowra is a 2h 30min drive south of Sydney along the spectacular Grand Pacific Drive. There are plenty of places to stay including motels, serviced apartments, resorts, B&Bs, rental houses and holiday parks. The region has a vibrant events calendar with markets, shows, exhibitions and more on year-round.View on Map
