As a popular holiday destination the town provides for a variety of accommodation, such as family tourist parks, B&B’s, and conveniences such as the Rocks Shopping Fair, parks, taverns, and a golf course.
The infamous Trial Bay Gaol stands majestically on the Peninsula of Trial Bay inside the Arakoon Reserve. Built in 1886 over 13 years, it’s a picturesque ruin which was built as a public works prison but was also used as a World War 1 internment camp. Visitors can meander through the museum or stroll over Monument Hill to the Little Bay Picnic area.
There is a half-day walk that will take tourists around to the historic Smokey Cape Lighthouse in Hat Head National Park. The Lighthouse is one of the tallest and oldest in the country and the Lighthouse Keepers Cottages have been carefully restored and converted into lovely B&B’s.
South West Rocks Dive Centre provides ocean cave dives into Fish Rock Cave, voted among the top ten dives in Australia.
