Casino is also vastly agricultural and up and coming industries are emerging such as olives, coffee, and tea- tree, budding in the Richmond Valley.
The town has an Australian country feel with wide streets old Queensland pubs, numerous parks and pretty open spaces. Connected to the main rail between Sydney and Brisbane, it is serviced by schools, a hospital and other community support services.
Being close to the Richmond River, it produces a natural habitat for native birds and wildlife and at the Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetlands next to the Casino Golf Course is a natural swamp with an abundance of birdlife that includes black swans, duck and egrets including the Jabiru. Visitors can picnic or wander the trail enjoying the view from the raised platforms.
