The town of Alstonville is has fertile soil, making it suitable for farms and orchards. It was originally named Duck Creek Mountain but was later given its current name in 1873. It was also where the world’s first commercial orchard of macadamia trees was planted. Alstonville is situated within the Ballina Shire Council area and the Northern Rivers. The area has numerous sports parks and recreational facilities. Aside from these, Alstonville also hosts different festivities every year, like trade fairs and even rodeos at the Alstonville Showground.
