Upper Lansdowne is a small suburban town located in the local government area of the Greater Taree City Council in the state of New South Wales. Historical records show that the earliest settlement activity took place in Upper Lansdowne and in surrounding areas in the 1820s. The main sources of livelihood during that time were agriculture and timber-getting. By the early 1900s, cattle-grazing and dairy farming became staple industries. Upper Lansdowne is part of the Taree Balance district, which is generally a rural region. The Coorabakh National Park is the nearest wildlife area to the suburb. Tourists may get to see the splendid natural environment composed of the park’s low shrubs and tall eucalyptus trees. Scenic lookout areas and quiet picnic spots for visitors are also found within the park.
