Tabulam is a small, picturesque rural village located near one of the largest rivers in Australia. The Bundjalung Aborigines were the first ones in the area, and some of them still remain in the village and other surrounding areas. Europeans first settled in Tabulam in 1839. Today, there are still indigenous villages in the area, one of which is the Jubullum Village. Artists and cultural leaders maintain the houses and lawns seen in the village.
Several recreational activities can be done in Tabulam including white-water rafting, bushwalking, fishing, camping and golf. Visitors can try to spot a wedge-tailed eagle or a platypus near the waterways. Tabulam also hosts the yearly Spring Racing Carnival that takes place after the Melbourne Cup.
