Meerschaum Vale is a suburban town located in the local government area of the Ballina Shire Council in the state of New South Wales. The suburb is also within the Rural Hinterland South district. Historical records suggest that settlement activity took place in the area and Meerschaum Vale in the mid-1800s. A majority of the land was used for agriculture and timber-getting. There are several tourist attractions, major features and recreational facilities near Meerschaum Vale. One of them is the Tuckean Nature Reserve, which was established in September 1982 and covers a land area of 919 hectares.
