About Macksville

Macksville is a small suburban area located in the local government area of Nambucca Shire in New South Wales. The town is nestled halfway between Sydney and Brisbane, making it a strategic location for commerce, trade and tourism. Some of the well-known landmarks in Macksville include the Macksville Bridge and Star Hotel, which offers a view of the Nambucca River. Built in 1885, Angus Mackay and Hugh McNally built the hotel in the area, which was named after them. In August 1, 1868, the Nambucca Post Office opened in the suburb. The post office’s name was later changed to Macksville in 1889.
