Frederickton is a suburban town located in the local government area of the Kempsey Shire in the state of New South Wales. Members of the Ngamba-ngagu Aboriginal clan were the first inhabitants of Frederickton In the late 1820s, European settlers arrived in the suburb. Captain A.C. Innes, the former commandant at Port Macquarie, was the first European settler in Frederickton. A group of cedar cutters followed him in 1827. Frederickton has a rich historical background symbolised through the Macleay River Hotel building. Other interesting places to visit while spending time in the suburb include the Public School and Headmasters Residence, the Frederickton Post Office and the Tamban Forest Drive. Fishing in the Macleay River is also a popular recreational activity in the suburb.
