Cobaki Lakes is a suburb located in the northern part of the local government area of Tweed Shire. Early settlement of Cobaki Lakes began in the 1840s, with land used for timber-getting and farming. Back then, the population of Cobaki was low, but settlement in the area increased in the post-war years. Although Cobaki Lakes is a rural area, it is increasingly becoming more residential with new developments. However, rural land in Cobaki Lakes is mostly used to grow sugarcane and bananas, for dairy farming and timber production. Residents of Cobaki Lakes have access to nearby facilities and attractions such as Woodlands Lakeside Golf Club, Woodlands Lakeside Function Centre, Bilambil Playing Fields, Bilambil Sportsground, Reedy Swamp, Piggabeen Sports Complex and one school.
