Mondrook is a suburb in the Taree Balance, which is under the local government area of the City of Greater Taree. Mondrook is located across the Manning River from Taree, an urban centre that has facilities such as entertainment centres. The NSW Rowing Association holds the Annual Pointscore Rowing Regatta every year, which draws competitors to the area of Mondrook and Taree. January signals the month of the Manning River Festival, which involves the New Year celebrations of Taree and various cultural events. The festival also runs a Family Fun Day on Australia Day at Queen Elizabeth Park. In March, the Easter Powerboat Classic is also held at the Manning River near Queen Elizabeth Park. Logging is still a big industry in the area.
