A small, scenic village in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Clunes is situated 18 kilometres northeast of Lismore, 28 kilometres southeast of Byron Bay, 180 kilometres south of Brisbane and 754 kilometres north of Sydney. The town is under the jurisdiction of the City of Lismore local government area. Nicknamed “The Holy City,” Clunes is also home to several beautiful early Australian churches and North Coast federation homes, which are a testament to its historical past. Sitting on a hilly countryside with volcanic soil from the nearby Mount Warning, the town has become an ideal location for growing macadamia and coffee. After doing a historical roundabout in the town, travellers can also head to the Booyong Nature Reserve for a stroll along the short circuit walk.
