Calliope is a suburban town located in the New South Wales region. The town is adjacent to the Clarence River, which separates Calliope to nearby natural landmarks and conservation area. Tourist attractions in neighbouring areas include the Fortis Creek National Park and the Pine Brush State Forest. Visitors can go on bushwalking trips at the Fortis Creek National Park, which numbers among a larger group of national parks, nature reserves and wildlife conservation areas in the Richmond Range’s southern portion.
