In New South Wales in Australia, there is a suburb near the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway called Cameron Park. This suburb is located in the City of Lake Macquarie in the Hunter Region. Cameron Park is home to a go-kart circuit that hosts well-known state and national events. Cameron Park was formerly known as Estelville. The name was changed in 2000 with majority of votes in favour of naming the suburb after a speedway in the proximity to honour Ian Cameron, an important figure in Australian speedway racing. The new name was officially approved in 2001 by the Geographical Names Board of NSW. The suburb is composed of 477 lots and it also has a shopping centre and Woolworths supermarket.
