A locality under the local government area of Uralla Shire on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, Invergowrie is situated 16 kilometres west of Armidale, 19 kilometres north of the city of Uralla, 454 kilometres north of Sydney and 483 kilometres south of Brisbane. The Bundarra Road passes through the northern portion of the town, joined by the Invegowrie Road in a T-shaped intersection at the village’s centre. The locality was named after a village of the same name in Scotland, whose name in turn was derived from Gaelic words that mean “meeting place of goats.” Primarily a rural neighbourhood, residents typically head to the more urban town of Armidale for work, higher education, shopping and recreation. Invergowrie is also said to be a popular neighbourhood for the staff of the University of New England in Armidale.
