The town grew to have 12 hotels, a town band, several private residences, a blacksmith, a post office and a handful of stores. There was also a weekly coach service that ran from Tenterfield to Casino in 1885.
Today, the town’s main industries are agriculture and timber, with tourism following closely through businesses offering various tourist activities such as hiking, fishing and fossicking.
